Liphook, UK, 20 July 2016 – Lumi Technologies has won the MRMW award for the Best Use of Mobile Technology for the second year running. This year’s prize, presented last night at the Hilton Fort Worth, Texas, was won in partnership with healthcare market research specialist Kantar Health for mobile survey application designed to evaluate perceptions of health in comparison with actual bio-metrics.

The MRMW awards, described as a ‘celebration of innovation and excellence in the market research industry’ aim to recognize significant breakthroughs in mobile market research. The winning mobile app, KantarHealth built on Lumi’s survey application Lumi Say,  breaks new ground by capturing patient insight around events as close to the ‘moment of experience’, whether monitoring daily activity or experiencing pain.

In a pilot study, patients were asked about their daily activity while the application also collected their bio-metric data from fitness tracker. Results showed that many had misconceptions of their daily activity levels, some considering themselves active, when in fact they recorded low levels of activity and vice versa. In future it is expected that the mobile survey app will enable Kantar Health to monitor the patient journey, adherence to medication and its efficacy, their experience of using certain products and the health outcomes.

“It is a great honor to win this MRMW award, especially in the light of tough competition from the other nominees. It shows the great potential and opportunity of mHealth applications and how bio-metric data, together with survey answers, location and media capture, can be used to positive effect,” says Marcus Wikars, CTO of Lumi.
